This state-of-the-art meeting facility is easy to find, safe, affordable, centrally located, comfortable, beautiful, clean and perfect for the San Diego Horticultural Society's hybrid meeting needs. There is a teaching kitchen that we can rent, a shared outdoor space with a patio with a barbeque that we can use in the future.
Over the course of the last year, after in-person meetings resumed, it became clear that our membership no longer wants to drive at night or fight with weekday evening traffic to meet in person, so the board thanked Congregation Beth Israel for all the wonderful years that the Synagogue has served as our meeting home previously but we gave them our notice, and November was our last meeting there. We have been looking for a new place to land that would meet our post pandemic needs, because hybrid meetings and Zoom are here to stay, and we found such a place in Oasis. It is designed for everyone, both in the room and online, to hear and see the presentations.
We have changed not only our meeting location, but also, we have changed the meeting day to the second Saturday of the month and the time to afternoons from 1:30 pm to 3 pm.
We hope that you will find these changes as exciting as we do and give them your full support. Of course, we know this new schedule won't work for everyone, but it's been categorically proven that meeting on Monday nights in the Golden Triangle from 6 - 7:30/8p didn't work for everyone either. It is our intention to still provide the membership with YouTube uploads of the Zoom meeting recordings of as many presentations as we are given permission, so that those who miss a meeting and/or those who wish to see a presentation again can do so at their leisure.
Our first meeting of the year will be in our new spot on our new day and at our new time where we will celebrate the SDHS 2024 Horticulturist of the Year, Jeff Moore of Solana Succulents. More info about that in the NEXT MEETING column.
