SPRING GARDEN TOUR: Tickets On Sale! Gardens By Design - Plants, Places, Perspectives

By Karen England, for Let's Talk Plants! February 2023.

Saturday March 25, 2023.
10a.m. — 4p.m.
This tour inspires with... A Specially Curated Selection of Beautiful Gardens from Solana Beach to Pacific Beach! Presented in Collaboration by the SDHS & APLD.

The Artists in the Gardens, a beloved SDHS garden tour tradition, will be back at many of the gardens on this year's tour thanks to the Artists in the Gardens Chairperson Barbara Raub.

The San Diego Horticultural Society loves to feature plein air artists in the gardens on our spring tour each year. It is so inspiring to experience a garden through the eyes of an artist as they interpret the garden in a painting which captures that moment in time. -Barbara Raub

Our 2023 Spring Garden Tour is a journey along the San Diego coast from Pacific Beach to Solana Beach. The San Diego Horticultural Society has teamed up with the San Diego District of the Association of Professional Landscape Designers to feature the work of some of the best local garden designers.

The Horticultural Society’s early-season tour focuses on plant-rich gardens with unique and customized hardscape features. Each garden has its own personal style designed to take advantage of unique characteristics of the site to create wonderful living, relaxing and entertaining spaces.

While the general public pays $35 per ticket to enjoy the tour, here's an opportunity for you to attend FREE.

We also encourage you to invite a friend as a volunteer. They do not need to be a SDHS member.

Volunteer shifts are 1/2 of the day, about 4 hours. Before or after your shift you can relax and enjoy tour the gardens on the tour. Volunteers must be able to sit or stand for several hours and must be able to handle hills. Assignments include garden hosting, parking help, checking in tour goers.

Besides that great glow you will have all day when you volunteer, you will also have a good time and probably make some new friends. It's going to be a great day - work a little and have a lot of fun!

Sincerely, Karon De Leon, Volunteer Coordinator San Diego Horticultural Society
