SCHOOL GARDEN GRANTS: Perry Elementary School, San Diego, California

By board member Roy Wilburn and president Karen England for Let's Talk Plants! October 2021.

Now that all 15 of the chosen grant application schools have received their SDHS School Garden Grant money for the 2021-2022 school year, the schools are sending the SDHS thank you notes and emails with garden updates that will be passed along to the membership, one school at a time, throughout the coming school year, in this new monthly School Garden Grants column.

First up is Perry Elementary School in San Diego with this email update with photos from PE Coach DePerro on September 17, 2021.

Thanks again Roy, Included are three pictures of the work completed in the past few weeks. We have added a sign, tables and seating for a classroom of 24, pop up shade canopies, and plants. We would not have been able to do this without the support from San Diego Horticultural Society. With Gratitude, Robbie DePerro K-5 Physical Education Specialist Teacher 2015-2016 Perry Elementary T.O.Y. Roy Wilburn, in grateful collaboration with Heather Holland of the Master Gardeners, is the board member in charge of the SDHS School Garden Grants program and other scholarships.
