Horticulturist Of The Year. The presentation of the award will be rescheduled.

Due to concerns with Omicron COVID variant the presentation of the award will be rescheduled.

John Clements, SDHS 2022 Horticulturist of the Year.

John Clements has been a horticultural professional for 46 years. Former nursery owner, gardener and koi pond builder to the rich and famous, horticulturalist, commercial fruit tree farmer, garden writer, agricultural historian, co-administrator of the San Diego Gardener Facebook group, and Director of Gardens at the 37-acre San Diego Botanic Garden.

This will be our first in-person meeting of the year, not to mention of the last few years, and understandably, due to global events, attendance is limited for safety and will be by reservation only. We are going to adjust to the ever-changing governmental rules for gatherings and we will alert you to all requirements to be able to attend immediately prior to the event. The registration process will be similar to how the Coffee in the Garden attendance is handled, members will receive an email outlining how to register . . . Thank you for your understanding in these trying times and stay tuned!

For those who cannot, should not or will not be able to attend in-person, this event will be filmed and the recording will be uploaded to our YouTube channel (but it won't be Zoomed live) and can be watched later at your convenience.

The San Diego Horticultural Society's Horticulturist of the Year for 2022 honoree, John Clements, Director of Gardens at the San Diego Botanic Garden, will be presented his award and speak to us about what horticulture means to him in his native work habitat.
