Chuck the Plant Guy!

ree

Chuck McClung is a lifelong plant enthusiast, gardening mentor, landscaping consultant, and author. Popular local horticulturist Chuck McClung will return at our November meeting to entertain and inform us about Botany for Gardeners in his humorous style.

Chuck is the author of the popular

How Orchids Rebloom and his follow-up book, A Strawberry is not a Fruit. He has a master's degree in Botany, and a talent for explaining botanical complexities in a way that non-botanists can ratchet-up their knowledge base.

Not only is he going to boost our expertise and answer our questions, but he's also bringing plants, as well as copies of his books, for sale!

July 2025 Anne Murphy brought in a delightful bouquet of nine species of flowering California native plants, and this is just one of those beauties.  She hopes that seeing these lovely specimens will encourage members to plant more natives in their gardens. Photo credit: Karen England.

The Plant Forum has returned! So please bring some of your plants to share with members...

All you have to do is:

1) Bring a cutting or a potted plant to a meeting.

2) BEFORE you leave home, take a minute to print out a slip of paper with the common and scientific name of the plant, where it is native to (if you know that), what city it is growing in, your name, and a couple of sentences about your experience with the plant.

MEETING LOCATION:

San Diego Oasis

17170 Bernardo Center Dr

San Diego, CA 92128
