  FROM THE BOARD

By Frank Mitzel.

The March monthly meeting was well attended despite the cold and rainy weather. Our speaker, Christopher Woods, was very informative and entertaining.

Our Spring Garden tour is coming along nicely. The garden sites in La Mesa have been selected and tickets are now on sale at a discount to SDHS members.

Jim Bishop will be the recipient of this year's San Diego Horticultural Society Horticulturalist of the Year award. Our June SDHS meeting, "A Night At the Fair," will be held on Monday, June 10, 2019 to honor Jim for all his contributions, over many years, to the world of horticulture in San Diego.

The SDHS Board approved a grant of $2000 to San Diego area public schools in order to promote student vegetable gardens throughout San Diego County. The grants will be administered by our Outreach Chair, Board member Roy Wilburn and will be used help young students learn about the importance and joy of horticulture.
